the Ishimura’s communications, but arrives to find a floating vessel that has become a complete bloodbath. The crew is mutilated and infected with an ancient alien scourge. Clarke’s repair mission is transformed to one of survival as he fights to save himself and return the artifact to the planet at any cost.
Fight with Weapons and Telekinesis
The alien hordes are incredibly resilient. You’ll have to find creative ways to neutralize the attacking enemies by shearing off limbs with powerful weapons. And when the ammo runs out you’ll be thankful that you can use your telekinetic powers to pick up objects (even the aliens’ own severed arms and legs) and hurl them at your advancing enemies.
Graphics, Effects, and Sound Increase the Horror
EA delivers an incredibly frightening experience with state-of-the-art graphics and effects, an audio system that will have you jumping out of your seat, and a truly horrific atmosphere that is permeated with death, mutilation, and despair. You’ll have to be resilient to slash through the alien onslaught and stop this virulent scourge. As you explore the ship, the tragic story of the USG Ishimura will unfold in gory detail as you discover frantic logs from the hideously transformed crew in their final days.

You’ll be able to take full advantage of zero gravity in Deep Space. Battling enemies and solving puzzles takes on new challenges and present ingenious opportunities with the Zero-G game play. You can use zero gravity to create your own path around obstacles by walking on walls and the ceiling. Leap across vast distances or change your perspective to gain a strategic advantage over your enemies.

5 Stars gory, gruesome, galactic fun
i’m a 60 year old former executive who bought an xbox 360 and 16 different videogames just to see what was up with the medium. having played to the finish all the popular titles from GTA 4 and Fallout 3 to Bioshock and Crackdown, i have to say this game ranks very high on graphical quality, ragdoll and object dynamics, creature and environment concept, sound effects, musical score and plotting. it’s the whole package.
the plot is straightforward: a crippled mining ship, boarded by a repair/rescue crew, finds the crew gone, replaced by horrid alien creatures. through many tasks and trials they appraise the situation, attempt rescue and escape, and finally deal with treachery among themselves. at the end the hero faces one of the visually most impressive boss battles in any game i’ve played, and the hero (if he wins) barely escapes with his life. or does he?
this game avoids all the annoying features of other games. save stations are well situated, and entire levels load in one shot — as a tram ride from one part of the mining ship to another. there are no annoying waits as subsections load during play. the QA is excellent — i encountered no bugs or crashes. there is a selection of six weapons, all fun to use (the line gun and plasma cutter are mainstays), and (unlike the tedious diversity in bioshock) only two “special powers” — projective kinesis and time stopping stasis. there are one or two “stores” in each level where scavenged credits and materiel can be traded for weapons, ammo, health and suit upgrades (up to a level 6). when you’re done, you can play through again, keeping all the weapons and credits you’ve earned, but without advancing to a more difficult level.
the internal navigation and guidance helps (pop up three dimensional map, pavement guideline that appears by pressing a motion stick, hero journal, archive of audio recordings, etc.) make it hard to get lost or get confused. the tutorial episodes at the beginning of the game are clear, and the control combinations easy to remember.
the art is one of the real pleasures in this game. environments have all been lovingly painted — none of the tessellated pavements and walls of cheaper games — and there is real diversity in color, lighting and clutter. the music is cinematic quality, and one of the points i especially enjoyed was the way mechanical sounds (malfunctioning doors slamming repetitively, fans scraping rhythmically) were seamlessly woven into the musical soundtrack as percussion effects. the monster effects are creepy and there are plenty of horror film “gotcha” moments woven into the action.
my only suggestion is that players tackle the game in “easy” mode. as far as i can tell, the only difference in play is how hard you have to work to kill aliens and find ammo; and you will surely die often at the difficult level. this means you’ll have to really work to get past attacks, and sit through repetitive and extended cut scenes of your own dismemberment and evisceration before starting over. in the “easy” level you can actually go through an entire level without dying, and this creates an immersive, continuous play experience that is very much like watching yourself in a movie. this heightens the horror experience and involvement in play. and to really enjoy the art and action, you should only play this game in the dark!
2 Stars Overated
I really think this game has been overated. I found the whole thing monotonous and referential to quite a few other games that have come before. The setting reminded me very strongly of Doom 3, the alien creatures (Necromorphs- which itself is not a very original name) of The Suffering, and the plot “twist” (which even my kids saw coming from way off) from Bioshock, to name just a few. Gameplay was rather stagnant and the weapons that become available as the game progresses are really superfluous as you can kill most things with the first cutter you get. It wasnt creepy (Twinkle twinkle little star!- please), it wasnt exciting, it was just, well boring.
5 Stars Must Play 360 Game
I know I am late to the party in reviewing this game, but I just got around to playing and finishing the game. I can add to all of the other 5 star reviews in saying that Dead Space is really a standout Xbox 360 game. A must buy for anyone who likes the genre.
4 Stars Very Solid Horror Game
What can I say that hasn’t been said already about the game? Dead Space is a great game.
I really enjoyed this game on the Impossible Setting , I felt like it was a better game on that setting. This setting is only unlocked beating the game once.
I also enjoyed the fact that you could use cheat codes and still get achievements. Something that is very rare in games these days. The cheats don’t really ruin the game as you don’t have God mode or infinite ammo, but they do help remove some anoying features like running out of oxygen and running out of stasis.
I also liked getting the one gun achievement.
This game has a pretty decent replay value as you can carry your items into the next game ,UNLESS YOU CHANGE DIFFICULTY, you can restart a game with all of your weapons ,items ect.
For those of you wondering what weapons are best?
IMO the best armor is the TANK ARMOR and can be downloaded off LIVE.
The best overall gun for the one gun achievement is the PLASMA CUTTER.
The best overall gun if ammo wasn’t an issue would be the LINE GUN.
But as I played my 2nd time through I found myself really getting into the other weapons. Strangely though the flame thrower is weak and should be the last gun you upgrade.
The other weapons are good ,its just the plasma cutter and stasis seem to be the best combo for beating the game. Freeze and enemy and shoot their limbs off will be the main combat component. The LINE GUN is devistating when your out of stasis and enemies are rushing you as the LINE GUN just slices them in half.
I also enjoyed the basket ball mini-game. YOu could probably make a full fledged Xbox Live Aracade Game out of this mini-game. It’s pretty kool and involves you using gravity and multiple hoops and involves you using gravity boots .Overall really kool feature.
Also I liked the gravity feature one of which involved you walking on an asteroid and another which involves you throwing giant glowing radioactive balls out the ships air hatch.
Dead Space does have some repetive momements , your basically on one large ship and each level basically is a reworked lateout of the next. Same Hallways, Same look , over and over. But I will say it still is a very good looking game. I had just wished they mixed up the same-ness of the levels.
The story isn’t hard to follow IMO and has a almost predictable ending , but still a good ending and an overall game. The ending and story is enriched by reading the text found along the way in the form of audio and video files ,although they are completley skippable and up to you to read them or not.
I wish the DLC was free by now ,maybe they’ll release a version with all of the DLC.
But if your wondering the best armor by far is the Tank Suit , so I would get that as soon as possible off LIVE, you don’t absolutley need it , but its the best rated suit and should be the one you get if you want the strongest suit.
5 Stars Easy Five Stars
I rarely give five-star reviews for anything, but DEAD SPACE met and exceeded all my expectations.
IMMERSIVE. I felt a chilling claustrophobia throughout the whole game. I found myself getting tense all over weaving my way through all the closed spaces.
EXPANSIVE. On the other hand, some of the environments were HUGE, especially when I was cruising around outside the spaceship with wide open space floating overhead. Awe-inspiring vistas.
DISTURBING. Some of the monsters were genuinely disturbing to the point of believability. I was truly freaked out by the humanoid things that had the lower jaw missing and an extra arm coming out of the stomach. Plus, the storyline about this fanatical sect really bumps up the urgency and dread.
CINEMATIC. The cut scenes were beautifully rendered, and honestly I felt more like I was playing a movie than a game most of the time.
VISCERAL. Gore, gore, gore. Lots of wonderful, splattery innards.
MUSICAL. The score was well-written and appropriately orchestrated, woven together well with the sound effects and properly placed throughout the whole game. Jason Graves did a brilliant job, and I can’t wait to hear what he does next.
FUN. The visuals, gameplay, horror, storyline all added up to one of the top ten games I’ve ever played.

In Nuts & Bolts, a showdown has been set. The Lord of the Games (LOG) has arranged a duel between Banjo and the evil witch Gruntilda, aka Grunty, to decide the rightful owner of Spiral Mountain. LOG, being the creator of all video games, has built a multitude of worlds to host the challenges. Banjo must complete all the worlds to win, while Grunty tirelessly tries to stop his efforts using every method she can muster.
Build it at Mumbo’s Motors
The game is loaded with vehicle options to help Banjo pilot over land, water, and air. Parts for vehicles are widely diverse, ranging from your standard engines and wheels to egg guns, floaters, and other gadgets. The Mumbo’s Motors workshop makes it easy to create new vehicles. You’ll collect different parts by solving puzzles and exploring worlds. Vehicle parts include a wide variety of body panels, engines, wheels, wings, propellers, fuel, and weapons, plus lots of bizarre items like Mumbo Bombos, floaters, and the versatile sticky ball that allows you to create almost anything from a simple object. Once you’ve finished your ride, customize your creation with a paint job and a suitable name before Banjo takes the wheel and pilots it into action.
Customize, Customize, Customize–or Just Get Down to Business
LOG’s worlds are littered with hidden secrets, reward puzzles, and over 100 contraption parts that deliver an almost limitless combination of vehicle possibilities. As you work through the worlds, you’ll discover more and more ways to customize and improve your contraptions, creating a surprising level of user-generated content. But even if you don’t fancy yourself the greatest inventor or a highly creative craftsman, you can still have countless hours of fun with Banjo-Kazooie’s pre-built vehicles. With these at your fingertips you’re ready to jump in and get started, and there are plenty more contraptions available for purchase throughout the adventure using in-game currency and musical notes.
Characters, Old and New
Banjo and his best friend, Kazooie, are ready to battle for their homeland and prevent Grunty from developing it into tower blocks and malls. Other familiar faces return as well, such as Bottles, Captain Blubber, and the Jinjos, along with a vibrant cast and crew of new friends and foes. Keep your eyes peeled for Grunty’s minions–look out for Trophy Thomas, Piddles, and Grunty’s menacing Gruntbots: they’ll do anything to prevent Banjo’s success.
Nuts & Bolts offers an engaging storyline, entertaining characters, and fun gameplay options. This game offers complete single-player and multiplayer experiences–tackle LOG’s worlds on your own, or play with your friends in competitive and cooperative challenges. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for Xbox 360 is a enjoyable, challenging game that appeals to people of all ages and types.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts delivers loads of customization options, interesting characters (old and new), and plenty of fun, challenging gameplay.

4 Stars Respectable effort, pretty fun.
The game is fun, good for all ages, and has decent replay value and maintains a sense of exploration for the player throughout.
It can be a bit tedious or frustrating at times, but in general, this is a fun game for kids and adults and will give you hours of entertainment.
5 Stars GOTY!
This was my choice for 2008′s Game of The Year. Fantastic single player and online play. Truly imaginative and inspiring game design. I flat out love this game. Everyone should experience it. If you’re on the fence, just get it. Good times await you…
5 Stars I’m simply stunned…
I’ve never played a Banjo & Kazooie game in my entire life. I know nothing of the series. But I saw a demo on an Xbox at a popular Video Game store, and decided to check it out. I downloaded a demo from Xbox Live, and bought the game less than 24 hours later!
Let me tell you something – ANY game that encourages this level of creativity and thought process, and rewards the player for doing so as this game does, is one FANTASTIC video game.
In a world of Grand Theft Auto’s and Saints Row’s, a game like Banjo & Kazooie Nuts & Bolts is such a welcome breath of fresh air.
If you’re reading this now, you’re probably not a huge BK fan because if you WERE, you’d have already tried and possibly purchased the game. So I’m writing this to people who are just now getting around to researching this game, since it has been out now for over 6 months.
B&K-N&B is all about building vehicles to accomplish all sorts of missions. All of the missions are timed, which I’ll agree can be a little stressful. But failing to accomplish a set time in a mission only encourages one to build a better vehicle, or to find a new method to accomplish the task – to effectively “think outside the box.” Vehicle designs – quite simply – are limitless. Cars/Trucks? Piece of cake. Boats? Can do. Planes? Yeup. Helicopters, too! Submarines are possible but a little difficult as your vehicles can either sink or float, but cannot maintain a particular “depth” underwater. Build a sub with a few concealed wheels underneath though and you’ll be fine. The most fun (in my opinion) is building multi-purpose vehicles – like amphibious space-jumping race trucks… And of course what vehicle wouldn’t be complete without some egg launchers, maybe rockets, or a boot that’ll pop out of box and kick unsuspecting foes!
All in all the game aims to be cute – and believe me it delivers. At 30 years of age, even I have to laugh when the instruction says “Engine: makes vehicles move. Even stupid Bear can figure it out…” I’d normally aim this game at kids or maybe women who don’t care for the usual gamut of racing/first-person-shooting/roleplaying games. My wife would probably love B&K-N&B.
I LOVE games that let me build stuff. I love games that makes people go, “Hey can I do this?… Wow yes I can!!” Not even 20 hours into the game I was trying to build Mater from the movie Cars. I built a massive cargo plane and watched it fly (complete with retracting landing gear!) and built a submersible helicopter. I don’t care who you are – that’s AWESOME right there…
I also see a TON of content in this game. After 20 hours I’ve only unlocked a small fraction of available vehicle parts and levels. Of course, most of that is due to the fact that I’m too busy doing looptie-loops in my jumbo jet or exploring the ocean sea-bed in my truck… But B&K-N&B ALLOWS you to do that stuff, so have at it!!!
Phenomenal game. Phenomenal idea, and just a constant source of entertainment. The text issues have been fixed for the most part. The graphics are beautiful, the stories are funny and entertaining, and even though I know very little of the B&K history, it’s obviously not necessary to enjoy this awesome chapter of the story.
4 Stars Banjo plays on!
My son wanted this game for his birthday but we are now fighting over who gets to play it. He is such a pig and won’t let Mommie play. At least I can hear him enjoying it from outside of his bedroom door. Maybe I need to buy my own copy just so I can get some preactice in.
5 Stars So worth the price
I remember playing the first banjo Kazooie game on the N64 and trying to find every jinjo possible. Although this game changes the idea alittle with building vehicles from pieces like lego’s it works rather well. It ended up being a must buy for twenty bucks on sale. Hope Rare brings out some more awesome games with their original characters.

3 Stars It’s OK
This game didn’t have much of a chance since it came out after COD4 Modern Warfare. The graphics are amazing, of-course and the game play is the usual, but it just cannot compare to it’s big brother!
4 Stars good game
Not as good as Call of Duty 4 – “Modern Warfare”. Would skip this one and either get COD 4 or wait for the soon to be released “Modern Warfare 2″.
I don’t play the campaigns – only multiplayer on XBOX live. Modern Warfare has been the 2nd best game I own — after Left 4 Dead.
4 Stars The co-op display could’ve been better
I love this game. The story, the action, the weapons, etc. It’s good game overall. It’s just the co-op local split-screen was kinda wack. I thought that they could’ve given more options for the split-screen display. But other than that…. GREAT GAME!
3 Stars The Great Grenade Game
Ok. I’ve thoroughly played this game through in every game mode available. Zombies is fun no matter what, unless you completely suck at the game, or you are playing with someone that completely sucks at the game. In order for you to earn your title of not sucking at the game, beat the campaign on hardened. Not too hard. Multiplayer level doesn’t really count because you will eventually kill some people and level up. So just because you are a high level doesn’t mean your good. I play against tons of people who completely suck at the game, they just play it A TON. My complaint about the game is that the campaign really has no story. Instead of the Russian campaign for Europe, which was one of the high points of the game, they should make it even better by putting the Europe campaign in the hands of the Airborne, preferably either the 82nd or the 101st (The Paratroopers of D-Day). I don’t know nearly as much about the Pacific campaign as the European, but I do know that if they had stretched the campaign all the way from Pearl Harbor to the final hours at Okinawa, and included the Iwo Jima invasion, then the game would have been 10 times as awesome. They also could do something where you are the bombardier of the B-29 that dropped the A- Bomb on Hiroshima. This game could have been a lot better. Historical accuracy isn’t as important as playability
4 Stars Great Game
I would, if possible give this game a 4.75 stars. The game is great, diffcult, and multiplayer modes are fun. I just wish you could get achievements with friends in the game mode, but the game is great. I was shocked how going back to WW2 made the game fun and fresh, playing both american and russian styles of fighting.
