User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars How a FPS should be
I had doubts about this game earlier so i decided to purchase it recently when the price dropped to 20 bucks. I’m happy I saved 40 bucks cuz i got 2 more games with it after purchasing Bad Company. But had I bought it full price it would have been worth EVERY PENNY. The game is nearly perfect. Graphics were good not great when i first started to play but when i started blowing stuff up I completely accepted the fact that the visuals were inferior to COD4. Fell in love with the sound effects. Gameplay mechanics are a little confusing at first and a little hard to get used to but you manage somehow. Destructible environments give you a more tactical approach to completing the missions that few other shooters offer. What’s a little annoying is that u cant make your own choices between which primary and secondary weapons to carry.(sniper rifle comes with a pistol that u cant exchange for anything better, some assault rifles come with grenade launcher, others rifles shotguns come with hand grenades)

The part I’m most disappointed in is that there are absolutely no offline multiplayer. Had there been campaign co-op or offline deathmatch it would have been alot more fun then it already is. On the plus side, the online multiplayer really pulls it’s weight. Anyone who is a fan of FPS and interested in this game, i advise you NOT to think about it and pick it up ASAP.

4 Stars This game is a blast….literally.
I’ve had this game for a few days now and have played for several hours and so far I have been very impressed. You are part of a small team of soldiers that are put on “B” company because they are the ones that are expendable. They do all the grunt work. There were two things that really stuck out to me while initially playing this game. First, you can blow up just about anything in this game and it is fun doing it. How many times have you played a game and launched an explosive at a building and it blew up and did not damage to the building? Not so here. If you have guys holed up in a building you can just blow a hole in the back wall and storm in and take them out. Have a guy hiding behind a window peppering you with gunfire? Use your grenade launcher and take out the whole wall along with him. It’s a, forgive the pun, blast. Secondly, the sound effects are really good in this game. I love the way the guns sound when you shoot them. It’s not just bang, bang. They have a resonance to them that is actually quite immersive. You feel like it’s a real gun you are hearing. The only complaint I have so far is that the missions are quite short. You storm a town and have to take out the enemy squad and a tank, which may take you 10 minutes, then a short cut scene telling you what to do next. Go to another area, have a 5-10 minute battle and another cut scene. Again, I’m only a few hours into it so I don’t know if this continues throughout the whole game or not. Now, it is a fun 5-10 minutes, but it reduces the suspense you get when playing games like Call of Duty when a battles seem like they last forever. Battlefield: Bad Company feels like a whole bunch of skirmishes put together instead of once long sustained battle. It’s still fun, but not perfect. For the price Amazon has it for now, less than $20, it is definitely a must buy for those waiting for the next big shooter to come along.

3 Stars it was alright
i got this for my husband for an early fathers day and he says its alright, sometimes you get tunnel vision and cant see as good as other first-person shooting. i was under the impression that it was a 2 player game but its 1 player unless you go online, only then can you play multiplayer. its seems funny and has good music though.

3 Stars not bad, not great
as the subject says, it’s not bad, but it’s not a great game either. it’s not one you’ll be like oh man i gotta play that, 5 years down the road, but it’s fun enough to keep you entertained.

it’s biggest failing is how repetitive it is every mission, every town feels the exact same.

4 Stars Pretty good
Now the online was very fun that’s why I gave it four stars overall the one player yeah wasn’t so great but honestly I’d recommend this game because the online was great you can basically blow up anything.

Sid Meiers Civilization Revolution

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution will be the first offering in the legendary Civilization series to appear on next generation consoles and handheld systems. In development by legendary designer Sid Meier and Firaxis Games, this game will deliver Civilization’s renowned epic single-player campaigns featuring vast re-playability and unmatched addictive gameplay. User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Little effort compared to the pc originals.
I have a bit of bias against civilization revolution. My friend Alex is a big fan of the Civ series so like any good mate I thought it would be a nice gift suggestion.

If you enjoy turn based resource management, battles, and forming lucrative social alliances throughout many historical time peroids it may seem like at first Revolution provides that in spades. The visuals are nice and crisp with a lot of character. Believe me when I say Civilization has never looked better than it does on the 360.

However the problem is alot was taken out. Alex can complete a whole campaign in roughly an hour and a half. (And by that I mean literally beat the game) A glaring flaw is unlike other Civilizations that continued on after the space age that is the point where Revolution abruptly ends. On top of that there are no story driven missions revolving around famous historical characters. The only difference between a choosen leader is that it gives you slightly different unit types and a few unique options on how to utilize resources and social skills.

Honestly I’m a little mad at Sid. He seems to have underestimated the “intelligence” of X box 360 gamers. To me it does not matter what the genre is. If you can beat a game in under 2 hours something is seriously wrong, especially if it is suppose to be an in depth turn based strategy game.

If you can snag this game for cheap by all means do so otherwise save your money and rent it over the weekend. For those that enjoy stream lined simplicity Civ Rev might be up their alley but if you are a true fan of past Civilization games do not expect this one to hold up to your expectations.

Pros

+Nice comical graphics with people that pop up and talk in a Sim-ish like language.

+There are a few more modes and multi-player options beyond the core game that can add a bit more enjoyment.

+The game is easy to learn.

+If you have just a bit of time to kill before going into work or taking the kids out to the ball park it is an easy game to jump into and jump out of.

+Somewhat educational and a friendly game for all ages with hardly any violence or profanity

Cons

-Much shorter than the original Civ games. You can beat the main campaighn in under 2 hours.

-The game abruptly ends after the beginning of the space age. In other Civ games it continued onward after man-kind reached the stars.

-The leaders do not have personal story lines and self tailored mission objectives as they did in past Civ games. The only variance between each leader is certain unit types and socializing options. Sadly these little alterations are so obscure you will not notice them much.

-The game feels rushed as if it is a “toddler training edition” of the Civilization series instead of an actual true sequel.

4 Stars Good Solid Fun
Great game if you’re a fan of the CIV serries. Game is shorter and easier to play than the heavy / deep Civilization series for the computer.

Some would say that’s a bad thing, but I think it’s fine.

My only complaint is that you can’t keep playing after you ‘win’ via one of the 4 victory conditions. I’ve had games where I won an economic victory, for example, where I would enjoy then destroying every other country.

Still, a solid, fun game with enough variety that you’ll play it again.

5 Stars good stuff
really enjoyed the game, its pretty easy to pick up on

only complaint would be it at times seemed as if it was 4 vs 1 as the computer had little interest in going after other ai players

for under 20 dollars it was a great buy

4 Stars XBOX Civilization Revolution review
Great graphics and choice of leader roles. It is similar to the original Civilization game by Sid Meir. It’s easier to play because you don’t have to constantly manage all your resources like settlers and what they are doing, they are mostly self managing. Didn’t really like the world map however, and it is not as challenging as the original PC version of the game.

5 Stars civ rev for short
here it is folks!the most addictive game since “smack head larry”.get out your science skills!youre gonna need em for this game!first you must pick a big time ruler from the past.then slowly over a long period of time you must meet and conquer other past rulers.the rulers are people youve heard of like the short dead dude napolean or abe lincoln.personaly,i would have like to have seen george washington, harry truman, fidel castro, winston churchill, moussolinni, and a few others like that.grab your science skills for the next part!then you must choose an area of research.say you build a barracks.then you get more soldiers faster.but say you rely onhorsemen to do battle with.someone else couldve researched gun powder and could blow you away with its cannons.whats more is the game begins back in the day where there were just guys with sticks.if you choose right you could be nuking someone around 2030.i think this is one of the best games ever made.the game ends when your player gets one of 4 victories.those would be domination, economic, cultural or technological.the only easy one is domination.this game is the best strategy game ive ever played.it beats other greats such as harvest moon, risk, axis and allies and roller coaster tycoon.its great fun and pretty easy to follow.so sit back and relax.the game practicly plays itself.

Xbox 360 Black Play and Charge Kit

Complete with a charging cable and rechargeable battery pack, the Xbox 360 Play and Charge Kit is all you need to juice up your Xbox 360 Wireless Controller even in the midst of battle.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Broken after 6 months
I bought 2 of these, after about 6 months, one of the battery won’t charge anymore, so it has to be plugged in all the time while playing. The other one’s charging light doesn’t work anymore, so you can’t tell if it’s charging. They both still work… but I’ll have to get new ones soon.

5 Stars Easy to Use
This are pecfect no more baterys and I can charge my 360 controller when i am playing.

5 Stars Worked as advertised
This product did what it was supposed to do, charge the battery pack while I played and allowed me to continue playing wirelessly after unplugging it when the battery was fully charged.

3 Stars It works…sometimes!
Ok, let me start by saying this. IF the charger works with your controller then this is a nice to have BUT (seriously, there has to be a but to this because it’s Microsoft) the Play and Charge kit doesn’t work with all 360 controllers! I have no idea why but the black controller that came with my Elite didn’t work at all with the Play and Charge kit. The charge light will turn red for about 30 seconds then turn green indicating a fully charged battery when in fact its not charged at all. Luckily, I had a buddy who’s black controller he bought separate DID work and so traded me controllers. Problem solved…I guess.

2 Stars Very handy… For a few months
I enjoy the ease of use, it is convenient to just plug it in to recharge the batteries.

Unfortunately two out of three of my battery packs died within 6 months of purchase, which means they are only usable while plugged in. As such, I have returned to using rechargeable Energizer batteries, which are cheaper and more reliable (as long as you keep a few extra pairs on hand in case you run out of juice mid-game).

If you’re a gambler, you might as well pick up at least one Play & Charge kit for the sake of convenience, but keep in mind that it costs as much as four AA rechargeable batteries and a charger.
