Bioshock 2

December 20, 2009 by Xbox 360 Game Reviews · Leave a Comment

Bioshock 2

Follow-up to BioShock, 2K Games critically acclaimed and commercially successful 2007 release, BioShock 2 is a first-person shooter set in the fictional underwater city of Rapture. As in the original game, BioShock 2 features a blend of fast-paced action, exploration and puzzle-solving as players follow varying paths through the overarching storyline based on the decisions that they are forced to make at various points in the game. In addition to a further fleshing out of the franchise’s popular storyline, players can look forward to new characters, game mechanics, weapons, locations and a multiplayer game option.

The Story
Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster–somehow familiar, yet still quite different from anything ever seen–has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city. It is a Big Sister, a new denizen of Rapture who was once one of the forgotten little girls known as Little Sisters who previously inhabited the city’s dank halls.

No longer a pawn used to harvest ADAM, the dangerously powerful lifeblood of Rapture, from the bodies of others and in turn run the risk of being harvested herself, the Big Sister is now the fastest and most powerful thing in Rapture. You, on the other hand are the very first Big Daddy, similar to the Big Daddies familiar from the original BioShock, but also very different. The question is as you travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city beneath the waves, hunting for answers and the solution to your own survival, are you really the hunter or the hunted?

Gameplay
Although full gameplay details have yet to be released, is is known that in BioShock 2 players will take on the role of the original Big Daddy, not that of the original series protagonist, Jack. As a Big Daddy you will have access to most, if not all the strengths and weapons of a standard Big Daddy, as well as others such as free will and a new relationship to Little Sisters that although allowing for the familiar choice as to whether to harvest or adopt them, creates a different dynamic between characters. In addition, the game will feature new plasmids, weapons, the ability to combine these two and much anticipated multiplayer modes including: Free-for-all, and Team Death Match.

Key Features

  • The Big Sister – No longer just something to be harvested or not, the Big Sister is the most powerful resident in Rapture.
  • You Are the Big Daddy – Take control with the original prototype Big Daddy, and experience the power and raw strength of Rapture

Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Vegas 2

    User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars The Best First Person Shooter Ever Produced!~!
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is the best shooter game ever made; If you like, enjoy and value; (1) Realistic small arms warfare engagements, headshot is a headshot. (2) Advanced Customization of your online character that will affect your play because you can decide how much, and where to place different types of anti-ballistic armor. (3) Being able to use active duty small arms weapons used by special forces all over the world ! Pistols, Snipers, Machine Pistols, Light Machine-Guns, Shotguns and the most commonly used, Assault rifles. The assault rifles are quite mathematical in this game as, they each have unique recoil patterns after being shot, put a 6x scope on yours to experiment!

I havent been able to play this game, because i scratched the R6V2 disc, and i like this game so much, now that i cant play it, i dont even play xbox360, because this is the only game worth playing, if you are all about hardcore realistic shooting game, play HIGH STAKES if you have true skill!

Don’t miss out on this game, COD and halo cant compare because they arent realistic, they are made for kids, this isnt a childrens game , as there is much blood, especially when you get headshots, buy this game for sure!

If you don’t have xbox live, this game is still replayable and will last long, if you do have xboxlive, your good to go!

    5 Stars Awesome Shooter!!
Excellent first person shooter with a great storyline and the multiplayer terrorist hunt modes are awesome!! Highly recommend!

5 Stars Most fun I’ve ever had in a shooter
I never played the first Rainbow 6, I just jumped into this one. All I can say is R6V2 is the best shooter I’ve ever played. The single-levels are super challenging in either lone wolf, team, or online modes. The control is superb. Using cover in this game is better than in any other game I’ve played. I have a lot of fun playing this on XBOX 360. I used my XBOX camera to apply my own face to the character on-screen, some people apply bogus pictures to their characters such as T-800 or Darth Vader, pretty creative fun little extra. If you liked any Tom Clancy, SOCOM or COD game, you might like this one best of all or at least as much. Plus, as with most Tom Clancy games, there are TONS of great FREE dlc available.

3 Stars A relatively solid game.
I didn’t really have a problem with the game. Then again, I did like Army of 2, so take from that what you will. I will tell you the main reason why I did dig Ao2, is the 2 player co-op. I never played the solo story, which I am going to assume much of the fuss originated. Me and my brother usually kick the snot out of co-op games together, such as GoW, Ao2, and this game.

What I really dig about this game is you get to create your dude, fully customize him, etc. You get to pick your weapons, much like Ao2 but without the intricate customization. Furthermore, it even plays like GoW and Ao2, but without productive blind-fire, unless you are blind-firing close-quarters with a shotgun. Unlike Ao2, using silencers and whatnot is actually useful. Me and my brother by the end of Ao2 just went ahead with the pimped weapons and dropped our silencers because it made little difference in the gameplay. Having the option to go either way was good. I’m more of the silent type anyhow.

I don’t know what to say other than I really enjoyed the game. The thermal vision somewhat skews the depth perception, almost like looking through a funky lens and… Maybe as it should be, depending on how close the enemy is will determine if he picks up on the thermal scan or not.

Really, the only big beef I have with Vegas 2 was “faux pause.” I’m really surprised nobody mentioned it, but all pause does is bring up the menu while the game still runs in the background. I considered that the utmost of pathetic, you pause and get up for a second, coming back to find you died. It’s sad to think you have to be in some kind of “dead zone” to pause the game. This is where my rating comes from, since there is no kind of “breaking from the game” without the risk of a game over.

Other than that, I digged it.

    5 Stars Vegas2!!!!
I’ve liked this game since the first one it has longer campaign and some changes in gameplay like sprinting, and ranking up just by playing the campaign… Good game overall online is just as fun great multiplayer maps and their free!!!

    Overlord 2

Overlor II is the sequel to the hit warped fantasy action adventure that had players being delightfully despotic. In Overlord II, a new Overlord and a more powerful army of Minions take on the Glorious Empire, an advanced Romanesque nation, in a truly epic, yet familiarly warped, adventure. As the Glorious Empire conquers kingdoms and destroys any sign of magic it finds, it

See why critics called Oblivion the Best Game of 2006.

    User Ratings and Reviews

    5 Stars Exceptional
Considering this game had been made before most of the next-gen games had been released, I think that overall this game was a masterpiece.

The graphics astounded me continually, and while the fight system was simple, it needed no complicated button mashing combos. The customability was great, although when creating a character, he always seemed to look like a heavy faced asian. I’m not saying this a bad thing, just that it was not what I wanted. Overall the game was very fun and I have already started another new character. Definate buy.

5 Stars Best game of All time.
I absolutely LOVE this game. I have played it for close to 3 years and still have not completed all the quests and side-stories for this game. The depth of the world is amazing. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes RPG games that are not the standard cut-n-paste variety.

    4 Stars Pretty good
This game was fun but its one of those games that I beat got easier gamer score and I don’t really care about playing it ever again, but I might change my mind its still a great game.

5 Stars Oblivion, game of the year
I don’t think this is the game of the year. I think it’s the game of the decade. I enjoy it more than any other game I’ve played (I haven’t played Fallout 3 yet). I spend almost as much time with it as I do with the rest of my game library combined. It’s what I bought my xbox360 to play and I’ve not been disappointed. Tom

    1 Star Securom problems
Don’t buy this game unless you have already tested a friends DVD!

Many people can’t install their new game because the Securom protection software is dodgy. Nothing more annoying than being locked out of your own legitimately purchased software by overzealous dodgy protection software.

    The Orange Box

    November 26, 2009 by Xbox 360 Game Reviews · Leave a Comment

    The Orange Box

The Orange Box includes all the content of The Black Box for PC, plus the original Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One. Innovative games featured in The Orange Box include Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the second installment in Valve’s episodic trilogy advances the award-winning story, leading the player to new locations outside of City 17, as well as the pioneering type of single-player action game Portal, which rewrites the rules for how players approach and manipulate their environment, and Team Fortress 2 — an all-new version of the legendary title that spawned team based multiplayer action games with a daring new art style features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date.

    User Ratings and Reviews

    5 Stars Simply the Best
In all seriousness, what else could you possibly want? three games by the most talented developer in the history of the medium.

5 Stars If you don’t have it, go get it
You can’t go wrong. Valve hired the people who produced “portal” (using a level editor) on the spot when they saw the game. If you find this at a discount it’s worth the price just for the portal game. Even people who don’t like video games should enjoy this one. And you get the other four games also. Each of them were full price stand-alone games. They are just as fun now as when they were made.

    4 Stars Well worth it
I bought this game for Team Fortress originally. I was disappointed with it at first, but playing through Portal was well worth the buy. That game was very satisfying. I haven’t had a chance to play through Half-Life and the expansions yet. No matter what game you buy it for, the price is well worth 3 games and two expansions.

5 Stars Fun, fun, fun, in a box!
The entire Half Life series is an excellent play-through if you’re an FPS fan period, and having the whole collection on one disc is a godsend. Portal is a great game, well designed, and brilliant in it’s own right, but I found it was just not my cup of tea. Team Fortress 2 is my favorite game out of the collection, and the multiplayer fun is outrageously addictive. And you get all of this on just one disc. I’m writing this review quite a while after the game came out, so you can easily get a used copy of this game for $12-$15, and a new version for $20. In the best words I can use to describe it, f’ing steal!

3 Stars If you want multiplayer, buy the PC version instead.
I would just like to point out a few things that should be known about this game, in particular the possible issues concerning multi-player with the different versions.

Firstly, I want to agree with what most of the reviews seem to say, which is that this was a great collection for $50, and now that it’s dropped in price it’s an excellent deal. The Half-Life 2 game and Episodes 1 and 2 are great, with a great story and gameplay, some great visuals and so on. Portal is amazing, it’s combination of semi-dark humor and fantastic gameplay amount to a game which is worth the price of entire Orange Box. Team Fortress 2 is a well balanced multi-player game, with a class system that makes things interesting and keeps things mostly on an even playing-field.

Unfortunately, it is this last game that brings me to my second point. Team Fortress 2 contains the entirety of the Orange Box’s multi-player gameplay, and the Xbox 360 version seems to have less people online at any given time, making it take longer to find a game and giving the player less choice as to what gamemodes or maps to play, since looking for a specific gametype will result in a longer wait. I haven’t played the PS3 version, so I’m not certain if it suffers from the same problems, but I think it might because it shares the same additional drawbacks of getting the Xbox 360 version, which are:

-Lack of add-ons. Though Valve, the company that makes The Orange Box, discussed the issue with Xbox 360’s creators Microsoft, none of the updates already released for the PC version have made it to the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions. The add-ons are due to be released for the Xbox 360, for a price, and grouped together to account for the cost. Valve attempted make them available for free, since the add-ons have already been released for the PC version for free, but Microsoft wouldn’t allow it. No mention has been made of releasing the add-ons for PS3.

-No custom maps. Though a multi-player console game may arguably have the advantage in other areas, it is lacking (in most cases) in the areas of customization. Custom maps and gamemodes have been made for PC games for quite some time, and buying the PC version gives you access to those. You may run the risk of them crashing your PC in some cases, but overall custom maps add variety and entertainment value to the game, the trade-off being that you have to download it first, either on the internet or off the server before you join. The original Team Fortress started as a custom mod for another PC game, and the sequel has only three maps (though more official maps were added to the PC version), and more variety in maps is a welcome addition.

If you are just looking for achievements, only want the single-player experience, or aren’t concerned with any of the above, then it’s merely a matter of preference. Otherwise, I would suggest you purchase the PC version.
